This versatile 5-in-1 digital water quality meter is a must-have tool for testing water and other liquids. Great for chemistry labs, home drinking water testing, aquariums, swimming pools, and more.

This meter will test the following:

  1. TDS: Total Dissolved Solids - a measure of substances other than H2O dissolved in water (such as minerals, salts, organic matter, etc.) The lower the TDS is, the more pure the water you are testing is. For example, reverse osmosis (RO) filtered water will have a TDS of approximately 40 ppm (parts per million), tap water may have 300 ppm, and some high mineral content spring waters may have 3000 ppm.
  2. EC: Electrical Conductivity - a measure of the ability of electrical current to pass through water. Salts, minerals, and other chemicals dissolved in water may break down to positive or negative ions and facilitate electrical conductivity. So the more 'stuff' there is in your water sample the higher the electrical conductivity. For example, distilled water is almost an insulator, while seawater is an efficient conductor. This meter measures EC in mS and uS (milli and micro Siemen.)
  3. SALT: Salinity of Water - a measure of the amount of dissolved salts in water. It is measured in parts per thousand (ppt) or percentage (%). Freshwater will have a salinity of 0.1 ppt, and seawater around 30 ppt.
  4. S.G.: Specific Gravity or Density - it is a ratio of the weight of the water to the specific volume. The density of water is roughly 1 gram/milliliter, but it will change with temperature and the amount of dissolved solids. The more 'stuff' the water has in it, the higher its specific gravity.
  5. TEMP: Temperature of your water sample in degrees C and F.
