This smaller and more affordable Van de Graaff generator will produce potentials of several tens of thousands of volts and give you sparks from one to two inches in size. It is excellent for physics classroom demonstrations and science fair projects.
You can execute all the basic electrostatic demonstrations and impress your students. The maximum continuous current is only several microamperes, so the unit is safe (shock will feel about the same as when you get zapped on a dry winter day after walking on carpet.)
