Albert Einstein (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955) continues to be one of the most fascinating and beloved physicists and intellectuals to have ever lived. He is often regarded as the father of modern physics. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect."

One of the most famous of his scientific breakthroughs is expressed in the equation E=mc^2. In which the "E" represents energy, "m" represents mass, and the "c" is the speed of light in vacuum. This equation is the expression of the mass-energy equivalence and it is one of the pillars of modern physics.
